Work schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, rotating weekly between opening shifts (8:30am-5pm) & closing shifts (9:45am-6:15pm).
 
Pay: $20.10/hr

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Individuals assigned to this position may periodically rotate to the various areas of the ReStore and may report to either location depending on coverage needs. The ReStore Associate may be responsible for the pickup, receipt, processing, movement, and storage of all donated goods as well as for sales support.

KNOW HOW:
Committed to the mission of Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, the incumbent will be able to interface successfully with people, operate equipment safely, lift and move heavy objects, and oversee activities in his or her assigned area.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Receiving Donations
  • Represent AAHH by interfacing successfully with people in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Handle merchandise without causing damage to donated materials or donor property.

Inventory processing
  • Organize inventory as directed.
  • Move and display donated merchandise as directed.
  • Interact with volunteers in a polite and respectful way.

Customer support/sales
  • Greet all customers and provide them with any necessary assistance in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Display merchandise in a safe, attractive manner and as directed.
  • Assist in loading customer’s purchases.
  • Operate cash register when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people.
  • Ability to take direction and be part of a team.
  • Ability to exhibit emotional intelligence, patience, and flexibility.

WORK ENVIROMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is in the ReStore and working with the public. Staff encounter frequent exposure to the elements throughout every season.

Must be able to:
  • Stand or work on concrete floors for prolonged periods
  • Bend, lift, grasp, reach, push, and pull materials
  • Walk and climb on uneven surfaces and stair
  • Label, sort, and stock
