GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Finance Leadership Team, the Accounting Coordinator performs a variety of accounting and financial support functions related to financial transactions, recordkeeping, and reporting. Core responsibilities include accounts payable processing, cash receipts posting, and maintaining accurate financial records.
This role supports daily accounting operations and assists with budgeting, tax reporting, and the annual audit process. The Accounting Coordinator collaborates regularly with internal and external stakeholders—including staff, vendors, donors, volunteers, homeowners, and financial institutions—to ensure accurate and timely financial processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely requires operating standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
The position requires self-transport to local banks, etc. as well as occasional visits to construction job sites where conditions may include inclement weather, heat and humidity, high noise levels, and navigating rough terrain.
Must be able to travel to meetings and events and communicate appropriately with stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash receipts, and general ledger entries.
- Assist the Finance Leadership Team with budgeting, tax reporting, annual audit preparation, and other finance-related activities.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records, including accounts payable, credit card statements, mortgages receivable, and insurance documentation.
- Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, and check preparation/scanning.
- Post cash receipts and other financial transactions to appropriate systems in accordance with established procedures.
- Enter and verify financial data in accounting systems and online platforms (e.g., Ramp).
- Prepare and reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements.
- Provide support for payroll timekeeping and related data entry as needed.
- Assist with tracking, recording, and reconciling mortgage and other program payments.
- Compile and organize supporting documentation for government funding draws.
- Communicate with vendors and service providers regarding invoices and payment status.
- Maintain accurate and organized filing systems for all accounting records.
- Coordinate and support office volunteers assisting within the Finance Department.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, or a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems required.
- Experience with online payment platforms strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to follow established procedures with minimal supervision.
