General Function:
Reporting to the ReStore Volunteer Manager, the ReStore Volunteer Services Associate is responsible for providing assistance to the ReStore volunteer program. The work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:45 AM – 6:15 PM– With the possibility of a few Mondays –Fridays week depending on coverage needs.
Know How:
Committed to the mission of Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, the incumbent will serve on the Volunteer Services team, part of the Constituent Relationship Team. Interpersonal skills, effective communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make public presentations are required. The individual must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and work well with others. The individual will also need to become a Public Notary paid by Asheville Habitat and will be required to renewal annually.

Principal Activities:
- Perform administrative functions to support volunteer recruitment, orientation, scheduling, recognition, retention, and evaluation of the entire volunteer program (Construction, ReStore, and Administration.)
- Work with ReStore program staff (in two retail locations and Deconstruction) to observe and understand tasks to which volunteers will contribute.
- Ensure that ReStore volunteer data is accurately captured and maintained in database, supporting Volunteer Services and the organization.
- Lead Volunteer Orientations with other Volunteer Services staff, for both Buncombe and Madison County opportunities.
- Assist in coordinating volunteer groups, implementing safety practices, and ensuring adherence to AAHH established safety protocols.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing volunteer appreciation events and recognition awards.
- Assist with coordinating community service volunteers for ReStores.
- Attend outreach events on behalf of Volunteer Services.
- Support the Operations Associate, including front desk operations, when needed.
- Assist in volunteer onboarding system, including implementing the new volunteer checklist.
- Assist in maintaining online postings for ReStore and Deconstruction volunteer positions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support work, preferred experience with volunteering and/or volunteers
- Strong team approach, working well intra- and inter-departmentally
- Attention to detail; thoughtful, eager to learn, and flexible with unexpected schedule changes or adjustments
- Take ownership of completing projects on schedule
- Ability to effectively manage a small group of volunteers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Reliable transportation to allow for multiple site visits around Buncombe and Madison County
- Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and members of the public
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for the mission of AAHH
